Scheduled return as designated hitter against the Rangers

Aaron Judge will likely make his return to the New York Yankees lineup on Tuesday, August 5, when they begin a three-game series against the Texas Rangers. Yankees manager Aaron Boone confirmed the news before the matchup.

The judge has been recovering from a right elbow flexor strain that forced him out of action on July 26. Thankfully, an MRI ruled out any serious ligament damage, and he received a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection the following day. This allowed his recovery to move faster than expected.

Over the weekend, Judge took part in live batting practice at the Yankees’ training facility in Tampa. After showing good progress, he flew to Texas to prepare for his return. According to Boone, Judge will start as a designated hitter, giving his elbow more time to fully heal before resuming defensive duties.

Before the injury, Judge was in excellent form. He led the league with a .342 batting average, hit 37 home runs, and drove in 85 RBIs. His strong performance had kept the Yankees in playoff contention.

However, his absence impacted the team. Since he left the lineup, the Yankees have struggled to maintain consistency, dropping several games and losing offensive power. Now, with Judge returning, the team hopes to regain momentum and finish the season strong.

Although he won’t return to the outfield immediately, Judge plans to start throwing again this week. If everything goes well, fans can expect to see him back in full form soon. His presence in the lineup not only boosts the team’s performance but also lifts the spirit of the clubhouse.
