Buffalo moved quickly to address its offseason pass-catching need by completing a DJ Moore trade with Chicago, adding an established veteran before the new league year begins next Wednesday. Under the agreed terms, the Bills will send a 2026 second-round pick to the Bears and receive Moore plus a 2026 fifth-round pick.
The move gives Buffalo a proven receiver for a group that already includes Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Joshua Palmer and Curtis Samuel. Moore is also set for a reunion with head coach Joe Brady, who coached him in Carolina during the 2020 season and much of 2021, when Moore produced two of the most efficient years of his career.
Financially, the deal carries major commitments. Moore’s $23.5 million base salary in 2026 is fully guaranteed, his 2027 base salary becomes fully guaranteed next week and Buffalo will also guarantee $15.5 million of his 2028 base salary.
For Chicago, the DJ Moore trade reflects more than a talent decision. Moore’s role narrowed in 2025 as Colston Loveland, Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III became bigger parts of the passing-game picture. After posting a career year in 2023 and leading the team in receiving again in 2024, Moore finished 2025 with 50 catches for 682 yards before saying goodbye to Chicago in a public social media message.
