Oscar Piastri claimed the top spot in the latest Formula 1 Power Rankings after an outstanding performance at the Belgian Grand Prix in Spa. The Australian driver outpaced his teammate Lando Norris early in the race, pulling ahead confidently on a drying track. He managed his tyres brilliantly and maintained consistent lap times, ultimately securing his sixth win of the season and extending his championship lead to 16 points. The expert panel rewarded his flawless drive with the highest score of the weekend.
Alexander Albon also impressed the judges with his strong weekend. The Williams driver delivered a stellar qualifying lap and started the race inside the top ten. Despite dropping a position early, Albon displayed excellent racecraft, managing to finish sixth by fending off faster cars, including a Ferrari driven by Lewis Hamilton. His solid performance in changing weather highlighted both his skill and Williams’ straight-line speed advantage.
Charles Leclerc took control of his race strategy and executed it with precision, showing confidence and calm under pressure while maintaining strong pace for Ferrari. He qualified third and held his ground through the race, using a smart pit strategy and defensive driving to keep Max Verstappen at bay. The Monegasque driver showed improved control in damp conditions and demonstrated the positive impact of Ferrari’s recent suspension upgrades.
Verstappen, who had looked strong in earlier sessions with a low-downforce setup, could not challenge Leclerc after switching to more downforce for the race. He finished fourth, just outside the podium, in what proved to be a slightly underwhelming result for Red Bull given their expectations.
Elsewhere, Pierre Gasly carved his way into the points after starting outside the top ten, and Liam Lawson quietly delivered a mature drive to finish eighth. Lando Norris, who had started on pole, lost ground to Piastri early and finished second after a few minor errors. Gabriel Bortoleto also earned praise for his steady performance, bringing home points for the second time this season.
Lewis Hamilton recovered from a pit-lane start to finish seventh, while Oliver Bearman’s strong Sprint showing secured Haas valuable points. These standout performances under variable conditions made the Belgian Grand Prix weekend at Spa a true test of adaptability and race intelligence.
