Casey Wasserman LA 2028 Chair Retained After External Review of Epstein-Related Document Mentions

The LA 2028 organizing committee confirmed Casey Wasserman will stay on as chair after his name appeared in a recent release of Epstein-related documents. The committee said it reviewed the matter through a defined governance process before reaching its decision.

Outside legal counsel from O’Melveny & Myers LLP conducted an independent review, followed by a board meeting on February 11. The board then determined Wasserman should remain in the role, citing continuity of leadership and the findings of the review.

In its official rationale, the committee said Wasserman exchanged flirtatious emails with Ghislaine Maxwell in 2003 and participated in a 2002 humanitarian trip to Africa aboard Jeffrey Epstein’s plane. The statement said the relationship did not extend beyond what had already been publicly documented.

The committee also said the Africa trip took place before Wasserman or the public knew of Epstein and Maxwell’s crimes and that the travel occurred at the invitation of the Clinton Foundation. The executive committee added that Wasserman’s leadership over the past decade supported retaining him as LA 2028 chair.
