Shia LaBeouf arrested in New Orleans followed an alleged altercation that unfolded during Mardi Gras activity on the edges of a carnival festival. Police said the 39-year-old actor assaulted two people after officers received a report Tuesday night (local time) about a disturbance inside an unspecified establishment.
Police said an employee attempted to remove him from the premises, then LaBeouf allegedly punched that employee multiple times with clenched fists. Police also alleged he later punched another person in the nose.
The reported sequence established a custody-and-care timeline: police said LaBeouf received hospital treatment for unspecified injuries and officers arrested him after his release. Police said prosecutors will pursue an assault case tied to the incident.
Separately, police noted the actor remains connected to an active legal backdrop. His ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs filed a lawsuit in 2020 alleging physical and emotional abuse, with reporting stating the case is scheduled for court in September. LaBeouf has acknowledged past hurtful behavior while denying the specific allegations described in that reporting. A request for comment to his management initially received no response.
